How to Add a Discount Code to a Ticket

You can access this feature from your MSL website. Only Content Editors with access to Events Admin can access the Event Tickets window.

The Till and Door Entry station does not support Discount Codes. Discount Codes can only be used on tickets sold through your MSL website.

The Discount Code field must be enabled against the Shop before it will appear on the checkout page. For further information, see Enabling the discount code field on checkout.

Two sales records must be added for the same Shop concurrently - one without the Code so the ticket is visible on the Event page, and one with the Code so, when the Code is added on the checkout page, the price of the ticket is reduced.

For further information, see Event Tickets.

  1. Log in to your MSL website.
  2. From the Admin dropdown, select Events Admin. The Events Admin window is displayed.
  3. From the list of Events, select the relevant event. The Event Details window is displayed.
  4. Click Tickets. The Event Tickets window is displayed.
  5. In the Existing tickets section, next to the relevant Ticket, click Add/edit sales records (). The Add/edit sales records dialog is displayed.
  6. Select the Shop(s) where the ticket should be available to purchase.
  7. In the Sales period field, to set an On Sale date and time, click the Calendar icon () and from the date picker, select a date. Enter a time e.g. 13:00.
  8. If required, to set an Off Sale date and time, click the Calendar icon () and from the date picker, select a date. Enter a time e.g. 17:00.
  9. Click Save. A confirmation message is displayed and the new sales record is listed on the Add/edit sales records dialog.
  10. To create a concurrent sales record with the Discount Code applied, select the Shop(s) where the ticket should be available to purchase.
  11. In the Sales period field, to set an On Sale date and time, click the Calendar icon () and from the date picker, select a date. Enter a time e.g. 13:00.
  12. If required, to set an Off Sale date and time, click the Calendar icon () and from the date picker, select a date. Enter a time e.g. 17:00.
  13. In the Discount field, enter the amount the ticket is discounted by when the Code is used. This should be the amount of money the ticket is being discounted by, rather than a percentage.
  14. In the Code field, enter the 6-character Discount Code.
  15. Click Save. A confirmation message is displayed and the new sales record is listed on the Add/edit sales records dialog showing the Code has been successfully applied to the sales period.

More than one Code with a corresponding Discount can be applied per ticket, for example, if you want to offer 10% off the ticket price with one Code, and 20% off with another.
