How to Send an SMS

You can access this feature from your MSL website. Only Organisation Admins with permissions to send messages can access the Send SMS window.

MSL recommends checking the Send SMS and How to Set Up SMS support pages before sending an SMS.

MSL recommends conducting a test of your SMS by sending a single message to yourself before sending it to all recipients. Before sending the messages in bulk, please contact MSL will monitor the sending process.

Before proceeding, SMS does not support the user of placeholders for the recipient's name.

At present, MSL cannot support emojis via SMS, primarily due to financial considerations. If you require sending an SMS that includes an emoji, contact MSL will provide information regarding any alternative options and associated additional costs.

  1. Log in to your MSL website.
  2. From the Admin dropdown, select Messaging Admin. The Select Organisation window is displayed.
  3. From the list of Organisations, select the relevant organisation. The organisation’s Messaging Admin window is displayed.
  4. Click Send SMS. The Send SMS window is displayed.
  5. In the To section, click Add Recipients. The Recipients window is displayed.
  6. In the Recipients window:
    1. To add members of a group as recipients:
      • In the Lists section, select the checkbox(es) next to relevant group(s) 
    2. To add individual users as recipients:
      • In the Filter by name field enter a user’s name
      • Click Search
      • In the Individuals section, select the checkbox(es) next to the relevant user(s)
  7. Click Add Recipients. You are returned to the Send SMS window.
  8. In the Message Text field, enter any relevant text.

  9. When you are ready to send the SMS, click Send. You are returned to the Messaging Admin window, where your SMS is listed in the Sent Items section.
