How to Compose an Email Message

You can access this feature from your MSL website. Only Organisation Admins with permissions to send messages can access the Send Email window.


Some additional placeholders can be added to your message text using information stored in user's accounts.
Insert as follows:
Insert {firstname} to insert the recipient’s first name
Insert {lastname} to insert the recipient’s last name

  1. Log in to your MSL website.
  2. From the Admin dropdown, select Messaging Admin. The Select Organisation window is displayed.
  3. From the list of Organisations, select the relevant organisation. The organisation’s Messaging Admin window is displayed.
  4. Click Send Email. The Send Email window is displayed.
  5. Set the From address by selecting the email address you wish to send the email from.
  6. Set the Reply To address by selecting the email address to which replies should be delivered.
  7. In the To section, click Add Recipients. The Recipients window is displayed.
  8. In the Recipients window:
    1. To add members of a group as recipients:
      • In the Lists section, select the checkbox(es) next to relevant group(s).
    2. To add individual users as recipients:
      • In the Filter by name field enter a user’s name and optionally select the Only Show Opted-in Recipients checkbox.
      • Click Search.
      • In the Individuals section, select the checkbox(es) next to the relevant user(s)
  9. Click Add Recipients. You are returned to the Send Email window.
  10. In the Subject field, enter a subject for the email.
  11. If required, in the Attachments section:
    • Click Add Attachment. The Attachments window is displayed
    • Click Choose File and select a file from your device
    • Click Attach. The file is attached to the email
    • If required, repeat these steps to add further attachments, then click Back To Message. You are returned to the Send Email window
  12. If required, in the Google Campaign Tracking section, select the Track This Email checkbox if you would like to use campaign tracking in Google Analytics.
  13. In the Message Text field, enter any relevant text and use the editor toolbar to format your text, add images, videos, and links etc.
  14. When you are ready to send the email, click Send. You are returned to the Messaging Admin window, where your email is listed in the Sent Items section.
