Login Widgets

Login widgets facilitate easy access to your MSL website, catering to two main types of users: those with MSL login credentials, like staff, guests, and sometimes students, and those with external Single Sign On (SSO) login credentials, mainly used by students and occasionally staff, if configured accordingly. For further details on website account types, see Website Account.

The Login widget offers easy access to features like optional Registration Pages and a Reset Password option. Both the Login and SSO Login widgets allow you to set a default landing page, directing users to a specific page upon login. If this field isn't set, users are returned to the page they were viewing before logging in, ensuring a smooth user experience.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

You can access this feature from your MSL website. Only Content Editors with access to Website Admin can access the Website Pages window.
Widgets in the Site Widgets section are displayed only to Content Editors with permission to edit pages applied at the root (https://[domainname]/) of your MSL website.

Run the Portal Usage report in your Report Server to see the count of website registrations and logins within a specific timeframe. Additionally, run the Portal Users Demographics Report report to review the demographic information of users logging into your MSL website.

Configure a tile on one of your Dashboards to display the count of individual users who have logged into your MSL website.

For further information, see People Overview and Website Account.

This table lists and describes the available Login widgets.

Widget NameDescription
Login
This widget displays a Username and Password field, where a user can log in with MSL login credentials (rather than external SSO login credentials).
Additionally, it offers optional links to a Registration Page and a Forgotten Password page.
Customisable messages are available for scenarios such as missing credentials, incorrect password, account lockout, accounts that haven't been validated, or prompting users to use the SSO Login widget if they have an SSO-linked account.
You can also define a landing page. In the absence of a landing page being specified, users are redirected to their last viewed page upon logging in.

This widget is located in the Site Widgets section.

For further information, including descriptions of the widget's properties, see Login Widget Properties (opens in a new tab).
SSO Login
This widget displays a login link to an SSO login system where a user can log in with external SSO login credentials.
