MSL System Structure

Your MSL System consists of two main areas: the MSL Admin site and the MSL website. Below, you'll find a diagram illustrating the various components of the MSL System, showing their interconnections. Descriptions of each area are also provided, including the role of the Student Case Manager module and its integration with the rest of the system, to help you understand how the different parts of the MSL System function and interact.

For further information, see MSL System Overview.

This table lists and describes the various areas that make up the MSL System.

AreaDescription
MSL System
Your MSL System includes:
  • The admin-only MSL Admin site (with Applications and Report Server)
  • The public-facing MSL website
  • The Student Case Manager (SCM) site, if licenced
MSL Admin SiteYour MSL Admin site is for Super Admins only and is organised into functional areas for managing different parts of your MSL System. It includes Applications and a Report Server for generating reports.

Data from the MSL Admin site is shared with your Applications, Report Server, and MSL website.

Super Admins access the MSL Admin site using their MSL Admin site login credentials at https://[domainname]/msl/.

These login credentials are different from those used for the MSL website, as the MSL Admin site and MSL website are interconnected but separate entities.

For further information, see Accessing and Navigating Your MSL Admin Site and MSL Admin Site Permissions.
ApplicationsApplications within your MSL Admin site manage various aspects of the MSL System, including Door Entry, Point of Sale, Polling Station operations, and Attendance tracking.

Super Admins access Applications using their MSL Admin site login credentials.

For further information, see MSL Applications.
Report ServerThe Report Server in your MSL Admin site allows you to run, export, and subscribe to reports. Here, you can view data from your system, such as sales reconciliation, membership demographics, and voting patterns.

Super Admins access the Report Server using their MSL Admin site login credentials at https://[domainname]/reports/.

You can run reports directly within the relevant admin areas on your MSL website. For example, you can generate a respondents report in the Survey Admin section. Similarly, on your MSL Admin site, you can run various reports in their respective admin areas, such as transaction reports in the POS area or attendance reports in the Events area.

For further information, see Report Server.

MSL Website
Your MSL website is the public-facing part of the system, providing users with access to information, services, and resources.
Data from the MSL website is shared with your MSL Admin site, Applications, and Report Server.

Users, including your members, Organisation Admins, and Content Editors, access the MSL website using either their SSO (Single Sign-On) credentials or MSL login credentials at https://[domainname]/.

These login credentials are different from those used for the MSL Admin site, as the MSL website and MSL Admin site are interconnected but separate entities.

For further information, see Accessing and Navigating Your MSL Website and MSL Website Permissions.
Student Case Manager (SCM)
The Student Case Manager (SCM) system is designed to help student advice and advocacy services manage cases, and keeps student information confidential.
It operates independently from other parts of the MSL System but allows some limited data sharing.
  • If the MSL Lookup Dashboard is enabled, student records are transferred from the MSL Admin site to SCM.
  • If Enquiry Forms are set up, submissions from your MSL website create cases in SCM for advisors to address.

Data from SCM does not go back into the MSL Admin site or MSL website.

Only designated staff can access the SCM using a login that is specific to your SCM site.

For further information, see Student Case Manager Overview.
